Melomed Richard Bays Private Hospital’s Cardiac Centre of Excellence is the only one in Zululand. It includes a cardiovascular theatre, a cardiac intensive care unit, and a catheterisation lab (cath lab). The on-site cardiovascular theatre allows open-heart surgery to be performed without the need for patients to travel, and the cath lab is among the best, with cutting-edge equipment such as a Siemens catheterization machine worth millions of rands.

When the client approached us to design a solution for their exceptional need for innovative technology and patient safety, they asked us to design a solution with full integration between all security electronic systems in a way that had never been done before. This is a first in the healthcare industry and within a hospital.
We accomplished this by leveraging our experience and expertise in understanding ICT solutions, partnering with industry leaders, and ensuring we had their full support. We knew that by forming these alliances, we would be able to provide the features that our client desired.
In addition to developing the security solution, we were able to create a more efficient satellite television system by supplementing the system with already laid fiber optic infrastructure and eliminating unnecessarily long, cumbersome, and expensive satellite cabling.
We were able to bring the overall electronic solution significantly under budget by developing an integrated security solution that uses fewer elements than standalone systems and capitalizing on already existing infrastructure to provide a better hospitality service item to the Hospital.
