The Department of Home Affairs is the custodian, protector, and verifier of the identity and status of South African citizens and other residents, and Stanger Home Affairs is one of their local branches in KwaZulu-Natal.
THE SOLUTION WE PROVIDED
The South African government is determined to upgrade its facilities with cutting-edge technology. To meet this need, we were approached to propose a blueprint for an advanced integrated ICT security solution for the new Stanger Home Affairs facility, which will be 90% automated, user-friendly, and kept within a reasonable budget.
The most important aspect of the design was ensuring that the back-end infrastructure could withstand multiple data outputs from all networked electronics and transmit them to a central control room management solution without lag time or multiple network cables. Because of the nature of the client’s business, all products specified for the project had to be vandal-proof and include some level of cyber security. To achieve total integration, our design balanced Tier 1 security hardware strategically placed to minimize excessive product use with customized software. We also made certain that all hardware specified was energy efficient, lowering energy consumption throughout the building.
